On Mondays (well everyday if I could) we squat (deep)!!!! ?????
Last set of 10 dropping the weight upping the reps, 45kg on the bar as I’m working at an rpe of 6. Slow and paused at the bottom!
Little update as to what’s been happening since my competition
So after competing in the UKDFBA back in July, coming a very proud 2nd place ?
I went on holiday to America with loved ones and had an amazing time! On my return I was ready to get back in to training and food, in order to prep for the finals, which is now in 6 days time! ?
However I had been having pains in my foot, I wasn’t sure what it was from or why it was happening, so yes me being me I carried on regardless! Until bang! I felt it, in the lower of my back! I could hardly move…I was getting worse each day, unable to get out of bed, shave my legs, put my socks on. I would go in to work to be with my clients but then would leave as soon as I was done. It was having an effect on, not only my training ability but my metal ability too!
I was watching others do what I loved to do and had been so consumed in for over 28 weeks with the run up to my comp!
Then nothing! I wasn’t even allowed to pick a weight up! ?
I went to see a sports Physio (one I see all the time who is fantastic) but that didn’t sort it, I visited a physiotherapist who performed traction on my back and acupuncture (which is amazing by the way), gave me exercises to do daily but still the pains got worse, it felt like a bolt of lightening was going through my foot every couple of hours! One weekend I was so down, depressed and fed up of being told “it’s going to take time & rest to make it better” (anyone who knows me knows I’m the most impatient person ever)
A friend at the gym recommended a guy who she said could sort me, realign me!
I was skeptical, as no one had been able to sort it!
Marcus (now known as the miracle man, in my eyes) basically cracked my back, pelvis, knee, shoulder (most of me) sorted me out!! I’ve had no pain in my foot or lower back since!
I’m now back squatting deep (without my belt, to build a stronger core) ?????
I know I did this to myself, as I continued to train even when I knew 1. I had a broken big toe and 2. My body wasn’t right! It’s SO important to listen to your body! ??
I’m lucky enough to now be training again and am happy that ‘This is me’ even after not training for around 9 weeks properly, I’m happy to regress my training in order to progress. ??
Yes I am gutted to not be competing next Sunday, but I’m looking forward to going and supporting good friends! Who are looking insane and are going to rock that stage!
I want my body to be strong and healthy, there to support me in my daily life not just in the gym! Training is a big part of my life as is working with my clients, waking my dog, having a relationship, spending time with family and friends! ?
Listen to your body, look after yourself! Taking one day, or in my case lots of weeks off, in the grand scheme of things isn’t going to turn your body in to a mess, lose muscle or strength. I was ‘mainly’ consistent with my nutrition & with the amazing support from my coach @joeparish have been able to maintain my weight! He also supported me with my decision to pull out from the UKDFBA finals. It was my decision.
THIS IS ME ?
